Assist customers on commercial projects. Act as sales professionals with expertise in commercial building codes as it pertains to our products, including but not limited to hollow metal doors, commercial hardware, commercial glazing, steel roll doors, etc. Establish sales relationships with targeted, key builder/contractor/tenant improvement accounts. Perform commercial takeoffs from plan, coordinating with the architect when needed to meet code.
Facilitate acceptable level of service and communication with customers.
Close the sale by selling BMC value: “The best people, products and service.”
Assist with physical inventory.
Continuously improve and maintain in-depth product knowledge. Share expertise, guiding customers to make the best product and service selections that will provide value to their business, while enhancing BMC’s profitability.
Attend training as required.
Write and sign thank you notes to all whole house selections in the showroom.
Develop new business leads.
Sufficient ability to read and understand blueprints in order to perform accurate take-offs.
Collaborate with sales representatives and managers at other locations, securing sales referrals between residential and commercial sales units. This is especially important in selling doors, windows and hardware for use in multi-family units, light commercial building and mixed-use structures.
Maintain individual follow up system to assure proper attention of orders and quotations. Follow all Standard Operating Procedures and company policies with particular attention to:
Securing deposits for special orders / orders of non-stock products
Securing signature from customer on orders
Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual individual budget, driving profitable sales.
Focus on securing the maximum profitable sales opportunity with each customer through excellent selling, service and problem-solving. Develop profitable business with new customers through excellent selling, service and problem-solving.
Follow Division 8 architectural standards throughout bidding/takeoff process.
Complete DHI (Door Hardware Institute) training program as required.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Promote, sell and secure new accounts for the company in the showroom product line.
Facilitate product selection of customers. Use proper forms to assure consistent records of selections.
Services existing accounts with necessary custom products, time and information.
Assist with the selection of products best suited to customer needs.
Prepare, coordinate and communicate price quotations, terms of sales, delivery dates and service obligations to customers/contractors.
Continuously offering customers BMC’s full product line and services, marketing full-package selling.
Resolve customer complaints and problems.
Assist in the collection of accounts receivable.
Market internal vendor network of BMC operations (Stair, Panel, Truss, Portrait Windows & Doors, Custom Millwork).
Prepare and input orders as necessary.
Attend custom builder meetings as necessary.
Inform company of competitive prices, products and market-related information.
Estimate materials from blue prints supplied by customer/contractor.
Other duties as assigned by location management.
Minimum education required: High school diploma
Special skills required: Working knowledge of building materials industry and products, ability to negotiate prices and contractual agreements.
Special knowledge required: Working knowledge of accounting principles and local building codes and compliance requirements.
Other: Computer literate.
- Minimum experience required: 3 years sales experience in building materials supply.
