Saint-Gobain Plant Manager in Faribault, Minnesota

Responsible for managing the Manufacturing Operations at SAGE, including Production, Process/Production Engineering, Maintenance, Yield, Contamination control, warehouse operations, planning, logistics, and continuous improvement as designated by the Director of Operations. Member of Management Team for a highly automated $200M manufacturing asset to ensure it produces electrochromic devices of exceptional quality, at or below budgeted production costs in order to meet a rapidly growing market demand. Implements WCM, Production capabilities and capacity expansion to support the global deployment of this new technology, and help mature SageGlass into a billion dollar global business, producing the most innovative product in the Saint Gobain portfolio.

The Plant Manager must successfully industrialize a highly automated and highly complex manufacturing process to support the ramp up of an expected $200M business by 2020, but also mature an industrial process that can be deployed uniformly on a global basis.

Essential Functions include:

  • Managing, directing and developing personnel of Direct and Indirect reports within the Production team. Deliver quality product OTIF. (60%)

  • Projects within Operations to Streamline functional business processes within Manufacturing and cross-functionally with sales, R&D and Architectural Solutions in a rapidly changing market and business environment to support effective business ramp up. (15%)

  • Projects to drive Yield improvement, up-time, Through-put improvement and Production cost reduction (20%)

  • Interfacing and influencing customers in order to improve market acceptance of SageGlass (5%)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations, or Technology

  • 5-7 years of Manufacturing Management experience in highly technical field such as semi-conductor, PV, Glass Coating, automotive or other highly automated processing.

  • Experience of implementation and ramp-up of highly technical processes going from Lab to Fab.

  • Experience with growing a highly technical business 3-5x year over year.

  • Strong Leadership required in order to implement change and improve processes as we grow this business from a small entrepreneurial Start-Up into a billion dollar global business within Saint-Gobain. Operations is going through constant change and evolution – must be able to build a flexible, adaptable, resilient team.

  • Must be able to help a team break down extremely complex technical problems into smaller projects and be able to manage these to achieve company goals going forward as the business grows.

  • Excellent communication and ability to influence many people (peers, customers, Board members, company employees) is required in order to execute the growth required for this business to be a success. The amount of change and growth required in a short period of time is quite large. Emotional Intelligence is extremely important.

  • Problem solving is essential to this role in order to improve the processes, increase the yields thereby reducing the production costs. SageGlass is an evolving and highly technical product. It is the most innovative product Saint Gobain produces.

  • The amount of change, which is almost unprecedented growth for the Flat Glass Sector of Saint-Gobain requires close attention to detail and care that through the solution no new problems are created. Rigor is essential.
